At this time, in this country, we all know the numbers of infections and deaths on a daily basis. The government is trying various things but is not totally responsible for the problem that we all face. We also have some responsibility in what we do. We have the vaccine, but it is not a magic bullet. Most people I believe, are taking responsibility, whilst some are taking responsibility although a little relaxed and some are taking no responsibility and relying on others to take it for them.
Flouting the advice and rules is killing people, the numbers do not lie. Very few of us are liking this situation, being resolute is not easy so working at it is hard but it has to be worth it. Having got the vaccine is not a reason for flouting the rules as has been mentioned on the news. The vaccine might be giving you a little protection but it is still the time to realise that you could still spread the virus. Remember that the best protection is going to be a while after the second injection,
Why are some people playing Russian Roulette with their lives and more importantly the lives of others. We must keep thinking about a tape measure and how far that 2 metres really is when you are out, try to expand that 2 metres where you can. If you are queueing and someone is standing too close, be aware. Try walking the same as you drive, wait for a space to overtake, do not overtake too close, do not pull up too close, be courteous, thank other people for being courteous, look around, keep aware, there are no stop signs or traffic lights.
The new variant is highly contagious by at least 50% we are told, let us treat it that way. Always wear your mask covering your MOUTH and NOSE and use distance to your advantage. According to the BBC news, this new variant has spread across the UK and is now responsible for about 60% of new cases. The latest news from the BBC on 22.01.2021 is this new variant could be 30% more deadly.
Let us all be reasonable about outdoor exercise, it should not really involve driving. Do not be part of the minority out there, flouting the rules is killing people. This is not just spreading the virus, there are other areas in a hospital that are also trying hard. We all know that serious treatment and operations are being stopped because of the need for beds for Covid-19. Sensible people realise this, some others do not.
This is like any job that we do, thinking ahead helps. There is nothing new here, it is just a reminder for us all to get back on track. We have to make it work.
This is real! STAY AT HOME
New Covid-19 (first found in UK) Symptoms: From BBC news. Cough, Fatigue, Sore Throat, Muscle Pain, these may be more common in people who test positive for the new UK variant of Covid-19. Taste and smell may be slightly less likely (in new form of the virus). However, it is still one of the main three symptoms of the virus. This is from random samples of positive tests of 6.000 people in England. This study was done by the ONS
The Government is giving us statistics, numbers and advice for what we should be doing. The last full lockdown gave positive results a lot quicker than this time, what is the difference?
This lockdown is less stringent not less important but more important. The numbers will not come down quickly without our help. As I mentioned earlier, the vaccination is not a magic bullet.
We have got to use every piece of information and act on it for us to do our part, it is our responsibility. Many will complain if further lock down measures are brought in, let us not go there, let us make sure that it does not get to that stage. Stay home, only go out if it is essential, I could save your life, you could save mine. A couple of weeks ago I was bumped into by someone wearing earphones and looking down at their phone, they were probably looking for more music, which “I” could hear from “their” earphones, I was pushed into someone else. Is this taking responsibility? I was not even given an apology.
