Following the recent First Aid review (outcomes starting Jan. 2017) there is now a requirement to provide treatment for serious bleeding.
Any company, organisation, business, or area that could have an associated problem or interested people, following a risk assessment, must have correctly trained staff/people and the correct equipment to administer relevant first aid for the situation.
This equipment is quite easy to handle but it is specific in use, and application.
Tourniquets and specific dressings work well and have saved many lives when used by the military. This is why they have now been brought into the area of first aid, they can be administered at the site before any emergency services arrive, saving valuable time and probably a life.
This skill should be included in any first aid course from JAN 2017. If you have a recent qualification (from this date) you should have done it.
If you are somewhere in your three year qualification period you can update, if you are about to take or thinking about this important qualification, contact us, we are updated in these areas and ready to help
