CPR There is a rumour that following the latest First Aid Review that CPR is changing: Compressions to inflations. To prevent confusion between providing bodies there are not going to be any changes to CPR.
New Introductions
AED (Automated External Defibrillator) from the end of 2016.
AED instruction/information is being brought in to all First Aid Courses as standard. Depending on consultation with the customer, this instruction/information can be anything from introduction to the unit and the placement of the pads etc. to a full AED instruction course. Some information must be provided. Can be a bolt on until certification expires, then included.
Tourniquets from the start of 2017
These are now part of a First Aid Course depending on consultation with the customer. Can be a bolt on until certification expires, then included.
Haemostatic Dressings from the start of 2017
These are now part of a First Aid Course depending on consultation with the customer. Can be a bolt on until certification expires, then included. Tourniquets and haemostatic dressings are obviously for serious wounds. A risk assessment will dictate their inclusion.
