The largest number of accidents happen in the living/dining room.
The most serious happen in the kitchen and on the stairs.
More than TWO MILLION children under the age of 5 experience accidents in and around the home EVERY YEAR, for which they are taken to Accident and Emergency units.
Almost 100 children under the age of 5 are admitted to hospital for treatment EACH DAY following an accident in the home.
Older children are more likely to have fractures/breaks (both are the same) than younger children.
Younger children have a higher percentage of burns & scalds as well as poisoning and ingestion accidents.
The above information is from RoSPA.
Accidents don’t have to happen. No one wants an accident to anyone particularly children at any time and definitely not at this time of year. Being prepared to help is far better than wishing you had, remember, time does matter.
It is your child . . . they do rely on you. Contact us to become prepared. “Save a Baby’s/Child’s Life” is a short course of approximately 2hrs in your own home at a time to suit you. This course is not just for parents, it is also for anyone who helps to look after your child/children.
Unfortunately, children are not the only one's to be susceptible to the above "accidents". The elderly can be just the same, and can be just as reliant on others and yes, need keeping an eye on. If they fall down, they can go down hard so any injuries can be different. If you do not know what to do, leave them where they are if it's safe to do so, and call an ambulance. Don't forget the current and continuing problem with ambulances. The saying "prevention is better than cure" has never been so important.
My last thought for December:- Keep in mind a short but important sentence from an article in the Sunday Telegraph 27th November 2022. "Thousands face a 12 hour wait in A&E every day"
