Is it being done safely? Social distancing is being adhered to by most, but in my experience some people have forgotten this or have simply chosen not to follow the guidelines. Masks are not a reason to forget distancing, they are another step into protection. They are not a reason or a replacement for the other measures. Please follow ALL of the guidelines as they change. We are all depending on it.
With Covid-19 and any other areas, risk assess, as we always do even when crossing a road, is it safe to proceed? We have all got to be responsible to get out of this current pandemic. It has not gone away yet!
Hospitals have been inundated with dealing with Covid-19 and are just coming through it, we have all been clapping for them - they deserved it and more. Let us not repeat the pressure they've had or replace it with another. We do not want corridors and ambulances filled with patients, any one of us could be in that situation, waiting. Ambulances need to be on the road dealing with emergencies.
Getting back out and doing more gives us a chance to try something different, a lot of people know how to give CPR, most do not. No one knows when it is going to be useful. By-stander CPR can make the difference between life and death, saving time is critical. Cardiac arrest outside hospital is usually fatal, CPR can help save that life.
Learning about an AED (automated external defibrillator) and what it can and cannot do is also important. I know that I have mentioned this before but everyone should know how to administer CPR and use an AED. “Doing more” could be your opportunity to become part of this team.
