Every five years there is a review of First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. There was a review October this year for implementation 2016.
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation will have some changes for protocols, actions and applications.
THE RESUSCITATION COUNCIL (UK) gives information for application.
There will be more relativity towards training in the community. A greater emphasis is put on community assistance and training in CPR and Defibrillator use. Early bystander intervention with CPR can double or quadruple survival in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Despite this, only 40% of victims receive bystander CPR in the UK.
The Resuscitation Council (UK) recommends that to improve survival from cardiac arrest:-
All school children are taught CPR and how to use a defibrillator.
Everyone who is able, should learn CPR.
Where cardiac arrest occurs outside a hospital basic life support saves lives.
There are going to be some changes either in protocol and/or activity in CPR for adults, children and infants.
Paediatric Basic Life Support will provide clear advice to health care professionals and members of the general public about the delivery of basic life support for children.
Basic Life Support and Automatic External Defibrillator. A trained bystander can increase the survival rate of any victim of cardiac arrest.
The treatment for choking is also included in the community assistance practices as the action of relieving choking is in itself lifesaving and can have CPR as part of the process.
Now is the time to get involved, you can make a difference to the 40%. It could be someone you know or someone that you do not know, you can make the difference.
