We all know the most relevant situation at this time is Covid-19. No matter what is decided by other sources, we all must be aware that we are still in a time of caution and awareness, probably for a few months. The new tiers will last until the time that is decided following the introduction of a vaccine and how it works. there is no magic bullet.
Christmas is going to be a time to think hard of what is happening, it is a time of family and friends. I keep talking about risk-assessments and this is another time to talk about them. Is the risk worth it or not? For any groups there will planning, there will be a form of social distancing and access to fresh air, closing or visiting of hospitality venues will depend on your tier, tier 3 hospitality venues will be closed. There will always be another Christmas.
The other people out there are neighbours and the elderly who could be a couple or on their own, a telephone call or a doorstep conversation is good at any time but it could mean more to them at this time of the year. If you are going out shopping ask them if they need anything. As and when it gets cold, keep an eye on them, are you seeing them out and about?
When putting up the decorations, lights etc., other possible jobs that need doing, a busy kitchen and other areas, stairs etc. stay safe and aware. The last place you want to be is A&E, they are for serious and life-threatening injuries or illnesses, please don’t be one of them, it will affect more than just you.
Life Saving Solutions is still open for business through Education and Training. There is still time, before Christmas, for statutory or bespoke first aid courses. Our most popular are the one day Emergency First Aid at Work course, AED and CPR and Adult and Baby/Child courses.
The above are conducted in a Covid-19 safe manner. All candidates must wear masks and gloves and be able to sit 2m apart. Face shields will be provided for when working with manikins Various first aid items will be shown and demonstrated but at this time they cannot pe passed around the group.
Following all of the above I would like to wish all, as good a Christmas and New Year as you can get, following any and all guidelines.
Best Wishes, STAY SAFE.
